Day 365. So this is it. The last day of The Year of the Beard. Thank you to all of my followers who have joined along the way, whether you have been here since the blog’s inception or since last week—I appreciate all of you. Thank you to those who have liked or reblogged any of my pictures. You have temporarily boosted my ego for a year’s time. I realize(d) that this blog was quite narcissistic, but as I said in a post on my new blog, it kept me honest and had me doing something somewhat productive each day. I do have regrets regarding this blog; namely, that I did not start with a “fresh canvas”. This I can attribute to not wanting to lose any length before Nationals. I also regret not taking measurements more often.
With that said, a beard length update: I started at 2 inches / 5 centimeters. I am ending at 3 1/8 inches / 9 centimeters on average. In one year’s time, with one or two light/needed trims, it ends with 1.125 inches of growth. That is a smaller number, and a much slower growth, than I thought it would be. It got extremely thick. My beard hair is extremely dense, as evidenced to those who can see it in person, but that was not my ultimate goal. In the end, I am happy with this, and what I have done. I hope that this blog has made some smile, or enjoy my little snippets of life and its happenings. This blog will not be active anymore, as it was a year-long project. I will make one, possibly two, more posts with a gif or two and possibly a video cataloguing the days.
Again, thank you. Farewell, for now. If you are in Philly, find me at a show and say what’s up. If not, it’s been cool. The ask box will be on indefinitely. Take care everyone.

Day 354. I just got done reading a series of articles about Derek Boogaard, an NHL enforcer, from the New York Times. It was a very good read and was about the change in his character, likely brought on by his incessant fights, which eventually lead to his death earlier this year. In other news, I had a delicious lunch after school with all of the teachers at Green Eggs Cafe. Now I am off to finish up my Christmas shopping. Wish me luck…

Day 352. Night 3 of being off. It was nice. I went out to dinner with Lili’s family and got some delicious Pad Thai (which I have some leftovers to take to school again. Round two!). Then, I experience a Hanukkah celebration firsthand for the first time. That was interesting. Then we watched Portlandia and some SNL before I headed home. Tomorrow resumes doubleshiftmania.

Day 350 bonus. This is from last night’s PBMC monthly meeting, taken by Lili. It shows how (awesomely) skeevy Tattooed Mom is, but it fits our club just fine. I was taking care of important business, or something. Also pictured here is my (drunken) roommate Rob.

Day 348. Long day of working and fun. It all started with school this morning, then directly to UT for the Wonder Years/Man Overboard/Fireworks/Wheatus/Moving Mountains/Into It. Over It. show. Yes, a ton of bands. Yes, Wheatus played. I spent the night running the box office, again. Then we went out for tacos afterwards. Successful night.

Day 347. I ran the box office tonight at UT during the Slackers show. It was my first time flying solo in there, and everything came out okay. I’m pretty pleased with myself.

Day 346. So tired. I had an 11 or so hour day at the school today. Night off spent at Lili’s. We watched the Flyers-Rangers 24/7 series on HBO. It was good. Bryzgalov is a character, to say the least. Good night.

About

This blog will follow Brian Hexter's beard growth for a year in pictures. His beard is that of folk-lore. His legend has grown exponentially as his beard has gained length. Children fear him. Elders respect and covet him. Animals seek shelter within. The current length, both in time and duration, is unknown. The last known date of trimming is spotty; mid-October is a good guesstimate. Brian Hexter is a proud member of Beard Team USA, a co-founder of the Philadelphia Beard and Mustache Club and an advocate for facial hair of most types--those not approved should know who they are and hang their heads in shame. Share this with friends, relatives, enemies and perfect strangers. NOTES: This is partly an experiment to see how big my beard can become and how long it takes for one of my jobs to yell at me for beard length. I'm also trying to get a pretty sweet GIF out of it in the end. Trimming is a necessary function/evil and will occasionally happen to keep it kempt. I do work 4 jobs and carry on a busy life. I will attempt to update this every day at roughly the same time, but life happens. Do not despair.
